Samsung Galaxy Z foldable: What we saw, what we can expect?
Late 2018 saw the dawn of a new era of foldable phones, which we had only heard about up until that point. Now, more than two years later, the notion is still alive and well, on its way to becoming more mainstream. Samsung was one of the first companies to produce these interesting phones. Moreover, it is still continuing its effort today, with the goal of making these bendable handsets mainstream. Now, we’re two days away from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. There is a great buzz about some intriguing offers we might see this year. But, before we go on to the new products. Let’s take a look back at the ones that have already had an impact in the digital industry.
Samsung Galaxy foldable phones
Although there isn’t a long history of foldable smartphones, there has been a persistent effort to develop one. Samsung has so far released four foldable phones; the Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Fold 2, and Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
The first Samsung foldable phone (released in 2019) used a book-like opening scenario. It was unquestionably the talk of the town. However, it experienced criticism for its durability due to an unreliable hinge.
Then there was the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, a vertically opening foldable phone. This time, Samsung created a one-of-a-kind Ultra-Thin-Glass (UTG) screen to address the issue of durability. The Z Fold’s second instalment, as well as the Flip’s 5G counterpart, followed suit.
The Galaxy Z Flip is all about a small form factor making it easier to carry and open to use as an expanded version of it. Without a doubt, the Galaxy Z Flip felt more luxurious, and after the initial apprehension, the dread of a broken phone just evaporated. There was no damage no matter how many times you closed and opened the phone.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are expected to have an improved spec sheet with several upgrades in each category. However, there is one factor that may persuade many individuals to purchase the devices. With the addition of an S Pen, the multitasking capabilities will be enhanced even more. The Z Fold 2 will be the one to support a stylus, and the possibilities for different use cases are unlimited. The chances of the Z Flip 3 supporting one are slim. The phones are also likely to be Samsung’s first foldables to be water and dust resistant.
