IIT Guwahati launches Centre for Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems
The Centre for Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems (CICPS) was established at the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Guwahati, to develop indigenous technologies. The Center will aim to produce at least five technologies per year. These technologies will be developed locally, resulting in direct and indirect job possibilities.
Thirteen Ph.D. students and 18 M. Tech students have already joined the CICPS, and these students will focus on undersea exploration technology. The Centre will receive funds for the first five years from the TIH – IIT Guwahati. Although, after the initial five-year period, the CICP will be self-sustaining.
The Centre for Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems (CICPS) will have six major components:
- Technology Business Incubation,
- M. Tech Program in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
- Technology Development,
- Center of Excellence,
- Human Resource Development
Furthermore, Fellowships for Doctoral, Post-Doctoral, and Faculties will be available through the CICPS’ Human Resource Development and Skill Development programs. It will serve as a hub for arranging workshops on basic and advanced skill development.
Industry 4.0 relies heavily on robotics and artificial intelligence. It is a combination of nearly all engineering disciplines as well as science. CICPS has launched a new Master’s program to handle advanced engineering issues and help fulfill the growing demand for the industry.
Graduates will be able to employ scientific approaches to tackle complicated problems in both research and practice, with an emphasis on industrial automation, to greatly increase productivity. The involved technological development will drive towards the establishment of training schools related to manufacturing and robotics.
Moreover, the center hopes to develop a minimum of five new technologies, every year. These technologies are uniquely build to produce both direct and indirect employment opportunities. For more such updates, keep watching this space!
